UIED has two research groups from 2014 onwards:
Group 1 - Lifelong learning – challenges and dynamics in educational, professional and social contexts in the contemporary society
Investigates training in higher education and in professional contexts, adult education and community intervention and the training of professionals and other education agents.
Group 2 - Curriculum development in Science, Mathematics and Technology
Focuses on the dynamics of teaching and learning especially those of sciences and mathematics, research and development of successful educational technologies, and investigation of programs for the development of citizenship and its relation to science. This group contains two lines: a) “Curricular development for success in science and mathematics” which is devoted to meaningful learning in classroom context, successful classroom cultures, the study of exams, and historical approaches; and b) “e-Learning and information and communication technologies in education”.
